If you're willing to pay a penny for someone's thoughts, the kids at the Mid-Columbia Christian School will take them. They are counting their pennies, adding them up to make sure they can make a difference. The students have been collecting change the last couple weeks to donate to the Pennies for Patients program, dedicated to helping patients with leukemia and lymphoma. This year, they were able to raise $130.07. They have been participating in the charity for many years. For a while, they sponsored a specific patient. Now, however, the money collected goes into a fund to help many different patients. To participate, the kids took small cardboard boxes home. They asked for donations from their family and friends and scrounged as much change as they could get, talking to everyone they know for a donation. Then, they brought them back and counted up their treasure. Mid-Columbia Christian School serves students from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. It is located at 1212 E. Pine Street.
