Seven of Othello's high school juniors are in the process of fine-tuning steps, skills and sequences in hopes of capturing the title of Othello's 2015 Distinguished Young Women (DYW). Mike Acord joined the teaching ranks of the Othello School District last fall as a mathematics teacher at Othello High School. Acord was born and raised in Brewster. Before going to college, he worked at Grand Coulee Dam while the third powerhouse was being built, which he said he enjoyed for a while. After he concluded his work at the dam, Acord started attending Everett Community College, where he earned his associate's degree. Wednesday, February 4, 2015
