Five local people were taken to the Othello Community Hospital May 3, after two vehicles collided on State Route 26, about half a mile west of Othello. Ignacio Ramos-Garcia, 33, Othello, was driving westbound on the highway and stopped to wait for a safe time to turn left onto Moon Road. While paused in the intersection, he was struck from behind by a vehicle being driven by Jose Arreola, 31, Othello. Arreola and his passengers, two 8-year-old girls, both of Othello, were taken to the hospital, as was Ramos-Gacia and his passenger, 35-year-old Violeta Ramos, Othello. Both vehicles were totaled. Arreola will be charged with speeding too fast.
