At about 9:40 a.m. Aug. 15, a young woman took a wallet that wasn't hers while shopping at Lep-Re-Kon Mart. A shopper in front of her in line left his wallet on the counter by the register when he exited the store. When he returned shortly to retrieve it, the woman had taken it and left, Othello Police Department chief Steve Dunnagan said. Because the wallet contained access devices, like credit and ATM cards, the incident qualifies as theft second degree, a class C felony. Class C felonies carry with them a maximum term in prison of five years and a maximum fine of $10,000. Anyone who recognizes the woman in a photo taken from Lep-Re-Kon security cameras or has any information, please contact the police department at 488-3314.
