6/25/2013 3:42:00 PM Old Hotel offers summer art classes
A series of classes at The Old Hotel Art Gallery should keep kids involved and learning this summer. It's a great way for the kids of Othello to get away from home and experience some culture, Old Hotel manager Sally Laufer said. The summer art series kicked off June 15 with a picture painting class. There is a class most Saturdays until mid-August, with a few classes during the week, as well. The class Saturday will be Zentangle, a decorative technique. Participants should be between the ages of 8 and 12, the cost is $3 and the kids should bring card stock paper and pencils. There will also be a tie pillow class June 29, a basic cupcake decorating class July 13, a jewelry class July 20, pottery bowl July 27, ceramic plate Aug. 3, ceramic lighthouse salt and pepper shakers Aug. 10, keepsake boxes Aug. 17 and pottery wall pocket Aug. 24. There will also be a pottery class with Betty Johansen Aug. 6, 7 and 8, for those between ages 6 and 16. There will also be a class where students get to create their own bath salts Aug. 7, for children 8 and older. Everyone is strongly encouraged to preregister for classes, as space is limited and seats fill up. Most classes are between 1 and 3 p.m. For a full list of times, costs and age restrictions, call The Old Hotel at 488-5936.
