There will be a little rockin' and a little rollin' this weekend, as Othello sees the 18th annual Spud Run car show come to town. Hosted by the All-Cities Classic Car Club, the event brings in people, and cars, from all over the state and beyond. It will be July 19 and 20. July 19, the event will kick off with slow drags on First Avenue, in front of Pro Build Lumber. In this event, the cars are shown off for everyone who wants to come. They race, slowly, with engines off, just trying to get their car to coast farther and faster than their competitor. At this event, participants and attendees are encouraged to dress in their '50s best. There is all-you-can-eat pizza for all people with registered cars. Then, Saturday, July 20, comes the food and fun. There will be a show and shine in Kiwanis Park all day, complete with plenty of themed music. There will be vendors selling food and other wares, trophies and T-Shirts for sale. A poker run will also net one lucky winner $500. This event is when the cars drive around town locating different cards. When they get five cards, they return to the park. The person with the best poker hand made of their cards, wins. This competition started to help get the cars out and about in Othello, so people would know what was going on in the park. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event. The All-Cities Classic Car Club was founded almost 20 years ago. They meet the first Thursday of each month. It is made up of people from throughout the Columbia Basin.
