Sharron Jacoby, 13, sits atop her horse Trigger after being crowned Othello Rodeo Queen 1956. She won the title based on her appearance, horsemanship and ticket-selling ability after competing against eight other young ladies. The first site of the Othello rodeo was in a field north of the present Hiawatha Elementary School and began in 1948. From 1954 to 1958, it was located at the junction of Highway 26 and the Potholes Canal. Construction began on the current rodeo grounds at Bench and Reynolds roads in 1948. This year's Miss Rodeo Othello will be crowned Saturday, Sept. 14, during the annual PRCA rodeo. Contestants are Kendra Dockins, Ashley Moore and Rebekah Schuh.
