Dura-Shine Clean is honored to announce its selection as the 2013 Mid-Columbia Small Business of the Year. Nominated businesses are judged on the areas of employee relations, customer service and commitment to their community. Monday morning one-on-one meetings with the CEO, special recognition lunches and dinners, 24-hour service for their clients, hundreds of hours of volunteer work and free house cleanings to women undergoing cancer treatment are a few of the many reasons Dura-Shine Clean was selected as this year's winner. Co-founder and CEO Carlos Martinez accepted the award at the banquet held May 9. In his acceptance speech, Martinez referenced the hard work of his management and janitorial staff, as well as the loving support from his wife and family. "Being chosen as the Mid-Columbia Small Business of the Year among the other excellent nominees is a tremendous honor for Dura-Shine Clean," he said. "Every member of our team contributes to our success. Exceeding expectations in all we do for our clients and how we serve our community, is a part of what we do every day at Dura-Shine Clean." The Mid-Columbia Small Business Awards recognizes for-profit businesses with fewer than 60 FTEs, which are locally owned and operated in Benton and Franklin Counties. Awards are presented to the top three businesses that best exemplify the qualities of honesty, fairness, ethical business practices, and commitment to employees and customers. This year's event was hosted by the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and was held at the TRAC Center in Pasco.
