7/24/2013 6:33:00 PM Outlook hosts local political forum
The primary election is only weeks away and the Othello Outlook is looking to help voters make good, informed decisions. The newspaper will host a political forum from 5 to 6:30 p.m. July 25 at Reichert's Showhouse, 130 N. Broadway Ave. In attendance will be those six people who will be on the ballot for the Aug. 6 primary. The positions represented on the ballot are that of mayor and that of city council member position No. 3. Mayoral candidates include current mayor Tim Wilson and challengers Shannon McKay and Shawn Logan. The city council position is being defended by Ken Caylor against challengers Michael Crosier and Corey Everett. Each candidate will have five minutes to present to the assembled people why they are running and a little about their platform before the moderator moves on to questions. Questions may be asked at the event, but higher priority will be given to those that are submitted ahead of time. Questions can be sent in to editor@OthelloOutlook.com or mailed to 125 S. First Ave. One question per person, please. Any questions submitted by July 22 will be given priority. The forum is free to attend. The snack bar at the Showhouse will be open during the event. The primary election in August will narrow the field for both positions down from three candidates to two. All offices with two or fewer candidates will appear on the ballot for the general election, which will be Nov. 5.
