Machete wounds lead to arrest

Adams County Sheriffs deputies arrested a 25-year-old Othello man Sunday on charges of first-degree assault after responding to 370 S. Reynolds Road on a report of a fight with a knife.
Juan Mateo Casteneda was taken into custody just after 4 p.m. Aug. 11 and booked into the Adams County Jail.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a 48-year-old man attempting to leave the scene with a number of injuries. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken nose and cuts to his head and neck, which deputies later learned were caused by a machete.
The victim's injuries were not life-threatening and he was later released from the hospital.
Mateo Casteneda was arrested at the scene.
