Man hospitalized after shooting

An Othello man was airlifted to Spokane Sept. 14, after being shot at about 8:36 p.m. in the parking lot of Pik-a-Pop, located at 1235 S. First Ave.
Uriel Vasquez, 19, Othello, was on foot, along with a couple other people, in the parking lot of the gas station, when a white car drove up, with multiple people inside, Steve Dunnagan, Othello Police Department chief, said.
There was an altercation between the two groups. Someone inside the car pulled out a gun and fired once, hitting Vasquez. The car then sped away.
Vasquez was helped up by friends. They moved him down Columbia Street before medical crews could arrive.
His injury is not life-threatening.
There are a lot of security cameras in the area. Police officers are reviewing the footage now, Dunnagan said.
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting is asked to please call the department at 488-3314.
