Mike Sanchez entered into a final pain-free rest Dec. 1, 2013, at home in the arms of his wife and daughter. Mike was born April 10, 1950, in Des Moines, N.M., to Joe and Agnes Sanchez. Mike had an amazing life; he always lived life to the fullest. He made friends everywhere he went and had a way about him that made everyone he knew laugh. He was an amazing husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a true cowboy at heart, he worked as a "caballero" most of his life at Schaakes Feed Lot, El Oro Feed Lot, ScabRock and Para Brothers feed lots. After suffering a debilitating back injury, he had to hang up his spurs, but he never quit working, just stopped punching in on a time clock. Mike obsessively hauled and split wood for his family home. He loved fishing and hunting, he would be at the river for days at a time trying to hook that monster sturgeon. He was out in the field hunting every day of the season, if he didn't bag his deer on opening morning. Of course, he knew all the land around his home like the back of his hands so he guided all his friends even after he filled his tag. He shared his love for hunting and fishing with all his kids and grandkids, teaching all of them about his favorite sports from the time they were born. Above all, he loved to spend his time with his family, his wife, children and grandchildren. Sleep overs with his grandkids were one of his favorite things, up until one in the morning eating candy, watching cartoons or dancing the night away to music on satellite. He was fun-loving and wanted everyone around him to be happy and having a good time. He helped everyone around town with their yards, mowing or cutting trees and shoveling their sidewalks when it snowed. He was a selfless loving man who literally gave the shirt off of his back to a friend more than once. Mike is survived by his loving wife Barbara Sanchez, of Washtucna; his mother Agnes Sanchez, of Ritzville; his sisters Vera Sanchez, of Pasco, Judy (Juan) Rocha, of Moses Lake, Mary (Poncho) Granado, of Fort Morgan, Colo.; brother Larry Sanchez, of Colorado; his sons Max (Judy Coffey) Sanchez, of Mead, and Anthony Sanchez, of Washtucna; daughters Amelia (Manuel) Bernal and Stephanie and Vanessa Sanchez, of Ritzville, and Rachel Sanchez, of Connell; grandsons Darren Laughlin and Austin Sanchez, Dom Sanchez and Jr. Villa; granddaughters Vinessa, Arienna and Yasenia Bernal and Izzabella Sanchez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Sanchez, his sister Joann Sanchez and his brother Joe Sanchez Jr. Mike was an amazing man to everyone who had the joy of knowing him and will leave a void in the hearts of his family and friends. Please join his family in celebrating his amazing life Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Grange hall in Washtucna.
