Social media platforms have not only been a way of expressing one’s self, but it has also been a way of connecting to others. This is one of the tools marketers use to market their products and connect to their customers. This is also the easiest and most personal way a conversation between the company and the customer is made.
But sometimes an effective social media platform for one company may not be as effective to the next company.
So let’s break down the most used social media platforms and what they’re best for.
1. Facebook
Facebook’s tagline is “Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life.”
What does this really mean?
Facebook has been one of the most used social media platforms and just recently topped over LinkedIn as one of the social media platforms used by B2B Marketers.
Facebook is the best marketing platform to use when your company is into publishing video. Why?
Because Facebook is highly shareable. When you watch a video on Facebook and you feel something, you feel an emotion conveyed through that video. And what do you do after that? You either react to it, and share it because you want your online friends to know and feel what you’ve felt too.
That is the “share first” thinking. When you as a marketer create these messages through video, the share-first example is your goal. When people share what you’ve created you are successful in your marketing plan.
This is the peak of videos since Facebook now puts greater focus on video with their algorithm.
2. YouTube
YouTube’s tagline, “Broadcast Yourself” really defines what YouTube really is.
It’s all about showcasing who you really are and a lot of influencers and brands have really found YouTube as the kick start in their careers.
Why YouTube?
YouTube remains the World’s Largest Video Search Engine. When you search for a hack, or a “How To”, articles don’t seem to be enough especially when what you’re trying to learn is complicated.
This situation makes you go immediately to YouTube, and there you get to learn aside from being entertained.
Some YouTubers and brands have gained so much success with YouTube because they have discovered the secret formula to making it big on YouTube.
Creating, publishing and optimizing social videos on YouTube makes you effortlessly embed videos across your sites. This can also create discoverable content on Google and other search engines.
Note that your what makes videos go viral is the quality of the content, when you take time and effort and focus on creating quality content which you know has value to your audience, the next step which is optimization.
3. Snapchat
Snapchat has always been one of my favorites, aside from seeing pure stories, I love how candid and authentic it is. And that’s exactly what Snapchat is trying to live by in their company slogan, “Life’s more fun when you live in the moment.”
For the younger generation and most millennials, Snapchat has been the best for of communication, and it’s more animated than just texts and chats, This makes Snapchat an important channel to be active on as an influencer or brand.
4. Instagram
Instagram is just clean and classy. It’s inspiring too. Although it doesn’t have a corporate slogan, we all know how Instagram is the best platform when we want to make the photos speak for themselves.
What’s it best for? Since Instagram has now launched IG stories, it is now a big player in social video. It is captivating, thoughtful and inspiring.Ever since it has launched the video platform, companies and brands have been testing it out and finding out the best stories to publish and looking for ways to stay at the top of the user’s minds.
